Description

Wool and Wire / Body 5" long / Tail 3 1/2" long.

Seeing things up close like a child and represented on the Circle Of Life or Medicine Wheel by the color Red, Summer Mouse teaches us the value of small details. When we look at things through the eyes of all the animal teachers, we begin to understand how different points of view work together to create true understanding

She is mostly brown, and is wearing a red and yellow flower with green leaves. This one resembles the little dormouse which was raised by hand and shared with our class.

An Animal Teacher - From the Native American Medicine Wheel

From the Native American Circle of Life we learn that animals are our teachers. They are also our elders, having lived on Earth longer than human beings. This view is consistent with Anthroposophical teaching although within the medicine circle, nothing stands above the other. It is a beautiful American way of relating to our animal brother and sister beings and of teaching children how to walk the good red road of human life.

Each season is assigned an animal with a special lesson to teach. Each animal teaches from its own perspective and experience of life. Human beings are capable of knowing all four perspectives, the overview, the details, the intuitive, and the joy of sharing knowledge. By taking all four perspectives into consideration we gain true understanding. We also learn why and how to fit gracefully into the Circle Of Life in order to live in Peace and Harmony. It is said that the animals know this instinctively, but human beings must learn it.
